Fundraising with Friends
We like to raise funds for a wide range of charities as we are all affected, or our loved ones are, by a number of medical problems and situations. So in support of one another, we like to support:
We like to 'give something back' and derive pleasure from doing something for our fellow man. It is also so good to work together in a shared venture.
We run Coffee Mornings and raffles, collect 5p pieces and even bras! We have attended Cancer Research UK events and have even danced in flash mobs and collected money in buckets all at the same time as having great fun together!
We've received a lovely letter of thanks from S.U.R.E - do take a read!
We always have our Bacardi bottle at Class to collect 5ps.
The next instalment of £15 bagged up and ready for delivery to help SURE
Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment so folks can stay more local for treatment rather than having to travel daily to Bristol.
We hosted a cake sale after our FLexercise class to help raise funds for local Scouts to go to Kenya in 2023 to help at a school. The generosity of my members helped William Appleton (1st Taunton Wilton scouts) make £120.
Last week every day after my outside classes, we had a “Takeaway Coffee Morning” event for Macmillan/CRY
Together we raised £365.32 which was divided equally between the two Charities.
We had planned to take folding chairs and flasks of coffee along but then the Rules changed (again!)
Thank you Girls, you’re good Sports!
You raised £177.54 for Sport Relief today. We had a ‘Jane Fonda-esque’ FLexercise Class this morning.
We danced, we drank coffee and ate cake. So good to have some fun in these worrying times. We were sensible however, we are following guidelines.
We shall keep calm and carry on dancing for as long as we can.
Since returning to face-to-face classes in September we have raised over £150 for MacMillan, £15 for SURE, sent a 10kg box of underwear to Smalls for All and through October I'm attempting to do 310,000 steps for SANDS and hope to raise £1,000 for the charity. All supported by my wonderful participants.
Thank you to Gail Large for organising our Strictly Come Dancing sweepstake at our Monday Zumba Gold class - proceeds for SANDS.
Red Nose Day Friday 18th March 2022 saw a team of my class participants dancing and fund-raising for Comic Relief and Guide Dogs UK. We collected £450 in our buckets which we split equally between the two charities.
Celebration Day for 90 years of Women's League of Health & Beauty (Flexercise) at The Castle School, Taunton at which a Zumba Gold participant, Hilary Edwards raised £276 for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Children in Need 2022 coffee and cake after class - we raised nearly £200. Well done girls!
Red Nose Day 2023 - more coffee and cake after class!!!
£153 raised for Comic Relief.
